    What is the difference between rotary kiln and dryer?

    When a lot of customers ask about the equipment, it's not only easy to confuse the pictures of the rotary kiln and the rotary dryer, but also sometimes ask if they can replace the rotary kiln with the dryer belt when they buy the equipment? Because there is little difference between the appearance of rotary kiln and dryer, the overall cost of dryer is cheaper, so we want to use dryer instead of rotary kiln. This idea can be understood, but there are differences between rotary dryer and rotary kiln. Their functions and working environment are different. Here, I will briefly introduce the difference between rotary kiln and dryer, what is the difference between rotary dryer and rotary kiln, so as to facilitate customers to distinguish the difference between them and avoid problems when purchasing.

    Rotary kiln and dryer belong to high-temperature drying and calcining equipment in building materials production, but there are essential differences between them. The structure of detailed design is slightly different, the production process is different, and the purpose is also different. Now let's analyze their differences in detail

    1. Different shapes: from the shape, the diameter ratio and length ratio of rotary kiln are generally more than 10, while the dryer is generally less than 8. That is to say, the rotary kiln is very slender and the dryer is thick and short. This may not be obvious, but the rotary kiln is usually long in length, which is used to calcine the product thoroughly and evenly.

    2. The process is different: when the dryer is working, the materials are continuously sprinkled and scattered by the rotation of the cylinder and the spiral lifting plate, so that the materials can be fully heated and dried. The process is simple and easy to operate.

    The main function of rotary kiln is to calcine the material and fully oxidize it, so as to achieve the best chemical reaction and meet the requirements of production process. It is usually used after the classifier and magnetic separator in the mineral processing production line. According to the calcined materials, it can be divided into cement rotary kiln, lime rotary kiln, metallurgical and chemical rotary kiln, etc. according to the properties of materials, it can be divided into dry production and wet production.

    3. Different uses: rotary kiln, also known as calcining kiln or rotary kiln, is mainly used to calcine raw materials with high temperature and change the properties of materials. Such as cement plant calcining cement clinker, metallurgical industry iron and steel ore magnetization roasting. Chromium, nickel, iron ore oxidation roasting and so on, in the field of industry and mining, all the materials that need roasting need rotary kiln to complete. This is the main use of rotary kiln. For some materials requiring high temperature, rotary kiln is generally used.

    Dryer is an important drying equipment in mineral processing production. It is specially used for drying materials. It is mainly used for drying ore raw materials. It is often used in mineral processing after ball mill and flotation machine, and can also be used for drying cement clinker, pulverized coal, slag and other raw materials.

    4. Different structure: the cylinder of the rotary dryer is a horizontal rotary cylinder, and the inside of the cylinder is welded with various plates with different staggered arrangement angles from front to back. The rotation of the rotary kiln cylinder is driven by the transmission device through the pinion, which is fixed on the outer diameter of the cylinder. Different types of refractory bricks are inlaid in the inner body according to the requirements. In order to prevent the pouring of materials, a door ring and a spiral plate are set at the feeding end, and a supporting wheel belt is set outside. This may also be a more obvious difference between the two.
